Coming Soon – eComm Updates Make Project Files Easier to Manage

Plans, Specifications and Addenda will soon have a more guided upload and organization experience

Keeping project documents organized is a big part of keeping work moving. Lynn Imaging has updated the Plans, Specifications and Addenda areas in eComm with clearer upload steps and more flexible ways to group, review and manage files. Watch the video below for a walkthrough, then read on for a closer look at what has changed.

Organize plans around the project

Plan Sets let teams create independent groups of drawings within one project. They are especially useful when a project includes multiple buildings or scopes that may use the same plan numbers. For example, an elementary school and a junior/senior high school can each have a separate A101 floor plan, with its own revisions. Projects that do not need this separation can continue using the default Plan Set.

Within each Plan Set, Volumes can group drawing packages delivered or organized in multiple parts. Teams can also use construction Disciplines, such as Architectural, Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing, along with optional project-specific Tags.

Upload and review plans in fewer steps

The redesigned Plan upload workflow supports multiple PDF files at once, including drag-and-drop selection. eComm can identify Plan Numbers and Plan Names from uploaded drawings; users can review and correct that information before the Plans are added to the project. During the same workflow, users can assign Plan Sets, Volumes, Disciplines and Tags, and make bulk changes across selected Plans.

Plans are sorted using the Index Page. Users can change the sort order for review and return to the established drawing order with Reset Sort Order. A new Releases area records upload and publishing activity, including the associated version, Plan count and status. From there, users can continue an upload that is ready for review or open Plans from a published Release.

Specifications and Addenda get a guided workflow

The Specifications area now supports multiple PDF uploads and organization by Volumes, making it easier to manage project manuals delivered as Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3 and beyond. The guided workflow walks users through file selection, document review and upload completion.

Addenda has a consistent updated experience, too. Teams can upload multiple Addenda PDFs in one workflow and use Volumes when additional grouping is helpful.

A clearer experience across document uploads

Across Plans, Specifications and Addenda, the updated workflow adds clearer feedback when files are dropped, more informative processing messages for larger PDFs, and easier navigation between upload steps. For a large file, keep the browser window open until eComm finishes preparing the PDF.

Archived documents remain available in the Archive Bin. Breadcrumbs add context as users move through Plan Sets, Volumes, Releases and document views. Project administrators can manage Plan Sets, Volumes, Disciplines and Tags where those options apply.

Getting started

Most projects do not need special setup. Continue with the default Plan Set for a standard drawing project, and add Plan Sets when separate buildings or scopes may contain duplicate Plan Numbers. Create Volumes when documents need to be divided into groups. During plan uploads, review the recognized Plan Numbers and Names, then use Disciplines, Tags and bulk assignment whenever they make a package easier to manage.
