RFB-127-22 HCTC RAD-Tech Renovation Jolly Classroom Center

RFB-127-22 HCTC RAD-Tech Renovation Jolly Classroom Center

Estimate:
$216,000.00
Estimated Length of Project:
120 (Substantial Completion) + 20 (Final Completion)

ARCHITECTURAL
The Hazard Community and Technical College (HCTC) Rad-Tech renovation project primarily consists of the approximately 400 square feet selective demolition and renovation of existing shell space on the first floor of the J. Marvin Jolly Classroom Center in Hazard, Kentucky into a Radiology Training Lab and Control/Observation Room. The build-out of the new Radiology Training Lab includes the installation of a new X-Ray, lining of the room with lead-lined gypsum board, a new lead-lined door, lead protective viewing window, resilient flooring, acoustical tile ceiling and storage cabinets. The Control / Observation Room receives a new solid core wood veneer door to match existing along the corridor, built-in workstation, resilient flooring, and acoustical tile ceiling.
This project includes providing HVAC and electrical systems to accommodate the new Rad-Tech Lab area in the Jolly Classroom Building.
STRUCTURAL
The structural scope of the project consists of supporting the new X-ray equipment. The equipment is being supported by a system of unistruts which are then supported by (2) structural steel beams. These beams are being hung from the existing structural steel beams with hollow structural steel posts and braced with unistruts to prevent sidesway. The X-ray equipment has a very stringent deflection criteria which is unrealistic to meet without providing completely new structural support systems. It was decided that the existing support system would be sufficient to support the hanging mechanism. The primary support system as shown will provide the deflection criteria as required; however, the existing building which ultimately supports the X-ray equipment does not.
HVAC
A new VAV box with hot water re-heat will serve the X-Ray room. It will tie into the existing supply air duct and the existing boiler hot water loop. The Control Room will be served by the existing VAV box. Ductwork will be added/modified to accommodate this area.
ELECTRICAL
New lighting and power to room fit up. Electrical connections to X-ray equipment.

RFB-116-22 Kenny Campbell AML

RFB-116-22 Kenny Campbell AML

Estimated Length of Project:
(Substantial Completion) + 120 Calendar Days (Final Completion)

From the Hazard AML office head north on route 15 for 0.2 miles, turn left onto Johnny Cox All-American Drive. Continue on this road for 2.1 miles, then turn left onto KY 15 north. Continue for 6.4 miles, then turn right onto KY 1067 east (Fifthteen Mile Creek Road). Follow KY 1067 for 1.8 miles, the site will be on the right.
The site involves acid mine drainage that is coming from the Hazard No. 7, Hazard No. 8, and the Hazard No. 9 seam. Most of the discharge is coming from the Hazard 7 seam.
The discharge from the Hazard No. 7 seam has saturated the hillside and then flows down the hill thru a small culvert and drain before entering Fifthteen Mile Creek. Based on the geology maps seam contours this is a low spot for the Hazard No. 7 coal seam. There has been extensive pre-law underground mining that is discharging from this location.
On the Hazard No. 8 seam just above the Hazard No. 7 seam there is an existing highwall that has been auger mined with an existing pit of water that also continues to discharge into the same area that is saturated.
On the Hazard No. 9 seam just above the Hazard No. 8 seam there is an existing highwall that has been auger mined with some discharge from the No. 9 seam coming over the wall into the mine pit on the Hazard no. 8 seam.
This project will involve treating the discharge with limestone sand and limestone rock drainage ditches.
A 60inch diameter pipe with headwalls will be constructed to handle the discharge which has the potential of a mine blowout in the Hazard No. 7 seam. A subdrain will be constructed above the Kenny Campbell home to collect surface and ground water and discharge the water into the 60inch culvert to protect the home.
On the Hazard No. 8 seam the auger pit will be backfilled. The drainage from the auger holes will be collected and diverted to and area that is diverted away from saturated area and Kenny Campbell home. The auger holes will be backfilled with Class II rock. The backfilling of the auger holes openings shall be done between Nov 15th and March 31st.
On the Hazard No. 9 seam the auger holes will be backfilled. The low elevation in the coal seam is directly above Tim Millers house and is causing him problems. The bench will be regraded to eliminate the retention pond and divert the water drainage from the auger holes thru rock drains to a constructed rocklined ditch to the existing pit on the Hazard No. 8 seam. The backfilling of the auger holes openings shall be done between Nov 15th and March 31st.
If trees are cut in the area between April 1st and October 31st compensation for bat habitat will be necessary.
Sediment control will be provided as necessary in all disturbed areas.
Any permits deemed necessary will be obtained prior to reclamation activities.
