Project Manager Name: Marc Avery Phone: (502) 782-0312 Email: bruce.wilson@ky.gov
Estimate: $7,765,000.00
Estimated Length of Project: Aug. 1, 2017 (Substantial Completion) + Sept. 1, 2017 (Final Completion)
The scope of the project includes replacing the steam piping in approximately 2600 feet of utility tunnels with hot water piping to serve 11 different building heat exchangers. This project will remove the buildings from the central plant, and then connect them into two groups of buildings served by hot water boilers installed at Bell Gym and Blazer Library. Modifications to HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems at the buildings used for the boilers as well as modifying and replacing some existing equipment at the other buildings will be necessary to support the project. In addition to the primary scope, two bid options have been proposed: (1) Modification of the HVAC units serving the open office (former pool space) at Bell Gym to improve temperature control and energy usage, and (2) Demolition of the existing, non-operational coal boiler at the Jordan Maintenance Building. Phasing for the two groups of boilers will be broken into three phases. Phase 1 will occur during the summer season of 2016 to get hot water to the Group 1 buildings. Group 1 consists of Blazer Library, Hunter Hall, Jackson Hall, Carver Annex, Combs Hall, and McCullen Hall. Work inside Blazer will be planned during an unoccupied portion of the summer with the exception of the existing mechanical rooms and the new boiler room. Building work inside the other Group 1 buildings is limited to the mechanical rooms, and the work will be completed when functioning hot water is brought to the building before October, 2016. Phase 2 will be an interim period of work over the heating season of Fall 2016 to Spring 2017. Tunnel demolition work will occur during this period, and some preparation work at Bell Gym for the Group 2 boiler plant will be done. A similar plan to Phase 1 will be developed for Phase 3 during the second summer (2017) of work for the Group 2 Bell Plant. Group 2 includes Bell Gym, Carver Hall, Hume Hall, Betty White, and Bradford Hall. Bell, Bradford, and Betty White have extensive inside piping work in non-mechanical spaces that will be planned during unoccupied (or lower usage) periods.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Provide 26.16kW roof mounted PV system. System will be provided on each side of existing PV system. PV system will tie into existing electrical branch panel ‘SOLAR’ which was installed during first phase. Connect new inverters to existing SOLRENVIEW monitoring system.
