This project is for the construction of a new 120’-3.5″ long x 100-0″ wide x 10’ high concrete structure with an interior concrete pad and entrance apron for the purpose of bulk storage of roadway, deicing salt.
Class “A” concrete shall be reinforced with epoxy coated rebar & fiber, which shall be used throughout the shallow, spread footing and walls. The Contractor shall be required to perform all excavation, filling, grading, & compaction of sub-grade necessary for the construction of footing, interior pad, and entrance apron.
Concrete walls will be ten (10) feet high, will be twelve (12) inches thick, will be constructed on the concrete footing, and will support a pre-engineered, membrane covered (roof) structure (PMCS). The roof structure is to be furnished and installed separately by Bulk Storage, Inc., per their current Master Agreement upon completion of the footing and walls under this contract. The (PMCS) is not a part of this Scope of Work.
Nine (9) inch thick, composed of Class “AA” concrete modified with fiber & epoxy coated rebar, shall be placed inside the footing and at the entrance on the exterior of the structure.

The proposed Pleasant Run Headwaters Doser Station AMD abatement Project consists of approximately 5.05 acres. The project is designed to treat acid mine drainage in the headwaters of Pleasant Run. The site is located at Latitude 37.204606 degrees North and 87.524197 degrees West.
To access the site from the intersection of the Western Kentucky Parkway and the Pennyrile parkway, take the Pennyrile Parkway South to Nortonville. Turn West onto US 62 and go approximately 6.5 miles, then turn onto KY 2272 and go to the end of the road. Turn left onto KY 3059 and follow to the end of the road. The large gate straight ahead leads to the site.
The project involves site preparation in order to install a doser such as the Aquafix Lime feed system or equivalent with variable speed electrical drive and a 30 ton capacity lime storage silo. The system will inject pebbled quick lime lime into the center of the stream channel by an extended screw auger tube. The system will be protected by a structure as designed by the doser unit manufacturer.
The system will be set up on a 20’ x 20’ concrete pad and access to the site will be provided via a 400 LF, 20’ wide gravel road. Power to the site will be installed from the main line along W Gamblin Cemetery Road. The meter will need to be set outside the main gate to allow access to the meter.
Sediment control will be provided by the use of a silt fence or straw bales installed prior to major construction disturbance.
