The University of Kentucky’s Shively Track, used by the men’s and women’s track and cross country teams, is over 30 years old and needs to be renovated and updated. this project will renovate the existing track and field facility by providing a new track and field surface, field event training areas, spectator seating, spectator amenities (concessions, restrooms, etc.) and equipment storage. The existing facility will be completely demolished and the new sports venue will be constructed to provide a first class venue for track and field events, creating a quality experience for both athletes and spectators and will be easy to access and maintain. The new track will be a none-lane synthetic surface track, competitive events, and grass infield. AN athlete only practice throw area will be developed creating a safety for adjacent spectators and warm-up of student athletes. Additionaly, a student athlete area has been developed to accomodate visiting teams. The new design and materials integrated with the adjacent baseball stadium create a synergy for dual use. A new entry plaza is being developed to create an identity for the facility and serves to upgrade th entry into the baseball stadium. Peramnet seating is provided for 3,000 spectators divided between the lower level grandstands. There are buildings to be constructed as part of the project: Field Storage, Throw Storage. Concessions/Restrooms and meet adminstration. Typical building material include concrete foundations and walls, loadbearing CMU, brick, and standing seam metal roof.

The Work consists of the following for the Pedestrian and Vehicular Access
Improvements: This project will remove the through drive, parking lots, overhead
utilities and create a central campus space. These spaces will consist of walkways,
lawn and planting areas, central gathering spaces and future sculptural elements.
The project will maintain the existing main entry from Loop Drive. The road will now
branch off into the two adjacent parking lots and circulation will flow through the
parking lots to access drives around the perimeter of the campus. The existing parking
lot will be revised to provide parking (both accessible and visitor parking) as well as a
drop off area, The site has many overhead utilities that will be buried. Many utility
poles will be removed. There will be other minor utility work to relocate fire hydrants,
post indicating valves and fiber lines. The existing lights for the project area will be
removed and new lighting standards have been established. The Owner will purchase
the lights and poles, however under this project the conduits and light pole bases will
be installed.
The intent of this project and specifications is for the elevator to replace the Reynolds Building #1 Elevator and upgrade and modernize the elevator to a fully operational and code compliant elevator system to replace existing open car freight elevator in Reynolds Building #1. This upgrade will include machine room, hoistway and pit.
