The project is a roof replacement at the Kentucky Coal Mining Museum for the Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. The Museum is located in Benham, Kentucky. The existing roof system is a total of approximately 8,000 square feet of ballasted rubber over styrofoam insulation. The existing roof is to be removed down to deck and replaced with a new two-ply modified bitumen roofing system. Existing stone copings shall be removed on a portion of the building and replaced with metal coping. Any existing rooftop equipment, vents, penetrations, etc shall also be flashed in to the new roofing system.

Army Aviation Support Facility, Boone National Guard Center

The Boone National Guard Center Army Aviation Support Facility (BNGC AASF) project consists of two buildings and associate site development. Building 1 is a 92,922 S.F. structure that includes a 26,338 S.F. two-story administrative office component, a 64,071 S.F. ten-bay helicopter maintenance hangar and a 2,513 S.F. mechanical basement. The structure consists of concrete foundations, steel framing, CMU, structural light-gauge framing, an EPDM roofing system and multiple skylights. Exterior walls include cast stone veneer, utility brick, a metal plate wall panel system and formed metal wall panels. Building 1 is designed with mechanical, electrical and envelope systems to make it net-zero ready. Building 2 is a 30,122 S.F. pre-engineered metal building that serves as an unheated six-bay helicopter storage hangar.
Civil/Site: The site is located along an existing ridgeline and will need large volumes of excavation and fill to bring the site to the finished elevation. Within this excavation, substantial amounts of rock removal are predicted. All rock removed will be evaluated by the onsite Geotechnical Engineer to determine if the rock is suitable material to be used for fill material. This rock will potentially need to be crushed to an appropriate diameter prior to being used for suitable material.
If borrow material is necessary, it will be brought from a few areas initially identified by the National Guard located north of the site. The Contractor shall reclaim all borrow sites with seed and proper grading and shall incorporate any erosion and sediment
control measures required as per the State of Kentucky standards.
The hardstand surrounding the facility is to be concrete pavement. This concrete pavement will serve as a hangar apron, aircraft and helicopter parking, circulation, and storage. The taxiway to the southeast shall be 50-ft wide concrete with 25-ft asphalt shoulders on each side. Also, the concrete hardstand shall have asphalt shoulders located at the south and east of the site.
Asphalt parking shall be located to the north and east of the site. A mixture of heavy duty and medium duty asphalt will be required according to the vehicle usage and circulation.
Regarding site utilities, the Frankfort Plant Board is proposing a 12-inch ductile iron water main. This proposed water main will service the needs of the new facility, in particular, the fire protection needs of the facility. Sanitary sewer is readily available via an 8-inch PVC line to the north of the facility.
The stormwater design shall consist of culverts, proper drainage of the hardstand and rooftops, oil water separators, detention basins for water quantity control, and an erosion and sediment control plan that satisfies all state and federal regulations.
Mechanical: The AASF HVAC systems include a geothermal system with heat pumps serving the shop and office areas and a geothermal radiant floor heating system serving the Maintenance Bays. Ventilation is provided utilizing two dedicated outdoor air units, one serving the shop area, and one serving the office area. High volume low velocity (HVLV) fans are utilized in the maintenance bays for summer ventilation. The Storage Building is mostly unconditioned, with the exception of one geothermal heat pump serving the IDF closet and electric room. A direct digital control system will be installed for all systems in both buildings and interfaced with the existing server on campus.
Electrical: The AASF will be served by a 3000 amp, 277/480 volt electrical service distributed from the main switchboard. The Storage Building will be served by an 800 amp, 277/480 volt electrical service distributed from the main distribution panelboard. Maintenance and Storage Bays will be illuminated by fluorescent highbays. Exterior building mounted and site lighting will be LED. Lighting will be controlled through the building automation system and occupancy sensors. The AASF will also be supported by a 500 kw emergency standby diesel generator connected to automatic transfer switches and a fire pump. A lightning protection system and ground ring is required for the AASF and Storage Building.

The Administration Building is a 6,127 sf wood frame structure with interior spaces consisting of primarily offices and associated support spaces. The construction is that of concrete foundations, metal wall panel clad wood frame walls, veneer stone base and a standing seam metal roof over wood trusses. The Multi-Purpose Building is a 15,265 sf pre-engineered metal building structure with interior space consisting of primarily cadet training, classroom, multi-purpose training room, dining hall, kitchen, and associated support spaces. Lower Parking Drainage & Remediation

The purpose of this project is to correct the damage to the existing parking lot located
off of Oakview Road in Ashland, Kentucky. The project will include the removal of the
existing storm water infrastructures and damaged areas. A new storm water drainage
system will be installed; which will include: storm sewer piping, surface inlets, curb and
gutter, curb inlets, sub grade perforated pipe and concrete headwalls. The existing
damaged parking lot will be demolished and removed and new asphalt and sidewalk
will be installed. The total project is less than 1/2 an acre.
The project will replace the existing two pipe fan coil and unit ventilator HVAC system with a water cooled variable refrigerant volume system. Rooftop units with energy recovery will provide the building ventilation. The new HVAC system will be tied into the District building management system to allow remote monitoring and control of the HVAC system. The electrical scope shall be limited to the power distribution to serve the HVAC system. The geothermal well field for the VRV system is being installed outside of the Contract and shall bring the geothermal piping into the mechanical room.

New Fellowship Hall and Classrooms for the Lexington Chinese Christian Church, 4030 Lexington Rd, Nicholasville KY. The work generally consists of the construction of a new, free-standing building adjacent to the existing church facility. The project will construct a new fellowship hall, kitchen, classrooms, and support facilities. Sitework consists of cut and fill with some borrow from the existing site. The new building contains approximately 9,000 sf and is slab on grade with wood load bearing exterior walls and roof trusses. Interior partitions are metal stud/gypsum board with hollow-metal frames and solid wood doors. Exterior cladding will be vinyl siding with asphalt-shingle roof. The estimated cost of construction for the facility is $1,160,000.

The Scope of Work for this project includes the removal of the existing two spans (span 1 – 80 foot steel trusses, span 2 – 40 foot concrete box beams), the existing center pier and both abutments. Two new concrete abutments and a concrete center pier shall be constructed in the same location and elevations as the ones which were removed. The steel truss will be cleaned, repairs, reconstructed and painted containing a new deck capable of supporting design loads of HS20. New concrete box beams shall be installed, also capable of supporting design loads of HS20. The approach road shall be reconstructed, approximately 40 feet on both the Fayette County and Clark County sides.
Prospective contractors shall be pre-qualified by KYTC Division of Construction Procurement Prospective in Bridge Construction Not More than 100 ft Clear Span (Code E2), prior to submittal of Bid Package.

This renovation project addresses the Tier 1 scope of repairs outlined in the Raymond Cravens Library Condition Assessment Report prepared by THP Limited, Inc. dated October 2012. Included are the roofing systems replacement, masonry, and concrete repairs. Repairs to the 4th Floor pedestrian bridge, connector bridge roof replacement and portico waterproofing that were identified as Tier 2 items are also included. The project consists of approximately 8000 square feet of roof replacement; various masonry repairs included 450 linear feet of parapet rebuild, 1000 linear feet of ledge angle restoration and another 2,500 linear feet of masonry unit modification below the ledge angle.
