East Campus Parking Structure and Dining Commons-P
Estimate:
$13,317,052.00
Morehead State University is located in the foothills of the Daniel Boone National Forest in Rowan County KY between Lexington, KY, and Huntington, WVA on Interstate 64. Morehead State University enrolls more than 10,000 students from 112 Kentucky counties, 43 states and 31 nations.
The new East Campus Parking Garage will be constructed in 2 phases at the previous location of Waterfield Hall which was demolished in another, separate project. The concept is to have the garage stepped in to the side of the hill with vehicular “street level” access to the lower level of the garage only. The structure is approximately 113,000 square feet with roughly 358 parking spaces. The parking garage structure will be precast concrete, on bearing on rock via drilled piers and footings. The parking area beneath the dining commons will be on grade parking consisting of slab-on-grade concrete, with cast-in-place concrete above, supporting the dining commons floor and steel structure above.
The new dining commons will be roughly 26,800 SF and be a separate structure from the adjacent parking structure. The dining commons will be accessible from the lower garage level via stairs and an elevator, as well as from the upper level at grade. There will be a loading dock area with adjacent mechanical pad accessible from the upper level of the dining commons. The mechanical room with an equipment platform will be housed on the dining commons level. The area / parking beneath the dining facility will be a cast-in-place concrete plinth, with steel structure above, supporting the roof of the dining facility. The exterior of the dining facility will be precast sandwich panel concrete with a combination of brick veneer and stone-like finish, as well as curtain wall, and rain screen metal plate panels. Only the Dining Commons shell will be constructed during this phase of the project. The remaining Phase 2 interior fit-up work will be completed at a later date via a separate bid and contract. For continued description, see Special Conditions.
