The Linda Donato PII AML Reclamation Project is located in Clay County, Grace Kentucky at 37°.1902 N latitude and 83°.8255 W longitude, Directions to the site are; from the intersection on Hal Rogers Parkway at Exit 20, exit onto KY 80 and US 421 north and travel 2.0 mile to intersection of KY 638, turn left onto KY 638 and travel 4.59 mile to unnamed road 250 feet passed Eli Drive turn right onto unnamed road and travel 300 feet to slide. The slide material and trees are visible, and material has blocked the road.
Slide (Site Area)
The slide has toed out into the edge of road with mud and debris causing blockage of road to residence.
We propose is to remove the trees and root wads within the slide area and slide material that is causing the problem which is blocking access to residence. Slide material will be excavated from lower section of slide and transported to a designated waste area 700 feet east of site along an abandoned mine bench. This will provide long term stability and prevent additional abandoned mine spoils from blocking the driveway. The construction of an ECB ditch and Class II ditch to drain accumulating water along mine to prevent water from causing further slides. Roadway stone is included to replace in kind driveway and a staging area. Sediment control will be provided by installation of silt fence or bales as directed.
No trees 3″ dia or greater will be removed except for the slide/unstable area.
Waste Area
Waste area is an abandoned previously disturbed mine bench that slide material will be wasted on as directed by the ENGINEER. It will be revegetated as part of the reclamation work. Salvaged trees will become firewood.
