RFB-125-14 Roger Adkins Slide Phase II
RFB-125-14
AML Reclamation Project
Estimate: $734,205.00
The project will remove two slides from the site, clean out the county road ditchline and a highway culvert. The lower slide is the construction access path to the work area. Install a pile and lagging wall along an upper section of the driveway and at the top of the upper slide to stabilize the driveway and to construct a staging area. The upper slide has three parts, the main section in the middle with a central drain, and a left and right slide area. If possible remove all material from the main slide and transition the side slopes into the left and right slides. If in the opinion of the ENGINEER the left and right sides cannot be stabilized then remove the material. If rock ledges are encountered the ENGINEER may require that material be backstowed onto the benches to minimize removal of material from the site.
Construct excavated rock ditches along all excavated areas based on the bedrock contours. Clean out the existing county road ditch and the existing roadside culvert beside the US-23 overpass will be unclogged.
Trees up to 20” diameter will be cleared, chipped, and spread in place to serve as erosion control. The four waste areas have been previously disturbed and used for fill placement. Stringent silt control will be set at the project site and at all waste areas. Controls at the site will include multiple silt traps and rock silt checks set in series. Haybales will be set where appropriate. Disturbed project areas will be mulched and seeded as soon as possible. Surface runoff from disturbed project areas (slide site and waste areas) will pass through a silt trap prior to leaving the site. For continued description, see Special Conditions.
