The work to be bid is divided into two major components and is described as follows:
Sidewalk, curbs and driveways entrances
This project consists of replacing sidewalks, curbs and driveways. The work will be in two phases , first on the south side of Sugg Street, then on the north side. Each phase will include the installation of underground utility conduits, and replacing the sidewalks. Installation of utilities within the underground utility conduit will be by others. The replacement sidewalks will be with a 4′ wide imprinted brick pattern in a red brick color. The curbs and driveways will be per current Kentucky Department of Highway specifications and standard detail.
Montpelier Mural
The repainting of an existing mural of the Montpelier Mural, located at the corner of South Main Street and Sugg Street on a concrete masonry unit (CMU) wall. The item for refurbishing is principally paint.
Eastern Kentucky University

This project renovates the existing Commonwealth Hall on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University from a men’s dorm into campus office building.
The Renovations will begin on the top floors and work their way down. Only fan-coil units will be replaced on the 20th floor to prevent water damage on the floors below due to leaking existing fan-coil units. Starting with the 19th floor thru 15th floor, renovation will occur on 5 floors.
Typically dorm rooms will become individual offices. Some dorm rooms will be combined with adjoining rooms by demolishing the demising wall between rooms. These spaces will become Director’s offices, conference rooms, studios, and training rooms. Each office will be fit up with a new drywall ceiling and soffit and furred drywall sidewalls. Carpet tiles will be used in the corridors and all office spaces. New blinds will be installed in all exterior window openings. Doors and frames will be replaced with ADA accessible 2’-10” units with offset hinges. Doors will be full vision panels units of white oak prefinished veneer. Selected walls will be painted with Multi-spec paint to conceal existing wall imperfections. New light fixtures will be LED fixtures for energy savings and life-time cost savings. New fan-coil units will be installed in all spaces.
Existing Restrooms will be renovated to include new tile, new fixtures, and new toilet partitions to match the renovations in other areas. Fixtures will be low flow for better conservation.

The site can be reached from the Kimper/Phelps exit by taking a left and traveling north on Route 194 to the junction with Route 632. Turning right to continue on 194, and continue to Phyllis. Elliot Justice Drive is on the left.
Bluegrass Community and Technical College

The work includes construction of a new freestanding campus building to house college administration, classrooms, science rooms, faculty offices and an advanced manufacturing center. The new steel frame building contains approximately 79,600 square feet. The work will include the construction of a new entry drive, parking lots, service area and associated landscaping around the building. See specifications for a complete description of work.
AML Reclamation Project

This project addresses failing gabion stream banks that threaten to block the stream channel and a failed culvert. The gabions and pipes were installed during two previous AML projects 1990s. The site is in the Arkansas community on KY 3382.
We will grout a lower stable section of gabions to prevent future damage. We will remove and replace am idle section of failing gabions with concrete gravity walls. We will replace a failing culvert under the roadway will be removed and replaced. At the stream headwater we will install a concrete weir and silt basin to reduce the sediment and rock load of the stream. For continued description, see Special Conditions.
