The Bobby Greer Slides AMLRP is located in Floyd County, Kentucky at N 37° 30′ 13.63” latitude and W 82° 43′ 2.01″ longitude near Martin, KY. The site can be reached from Prestonsburg, by taking HWY 80 west for five miles to Martin. Turn left onto KY 122 east and go six miles. Turn left onto KY 2030 and go 3 miles. Turn right onto Spurlock Church Rd and the residence is at the second driveway on the left.
The Waste Area is approximately 1/4 mile, on down Spurlock Church Rd., from the residence on the right and is described further,
below.
Project Area
Two landslides have occurred above the Greer’s home. The reclamation project KY DAML proposes would abate the landslide by excavating the unstable area to rock. Transition areas with ECB would be created between the excavated area and the remaining hillside. A Class II ditch would be installed at the toe of the excavated slide area and along the driveway to facilitate drainage into the Spurlock Creek. An RHDPE pipe with headwalls would be installed to facilitate the drainage underneath Spurlock Church Road. Silt fence and/or bales and debris barrier wall are proposed for proper silt control. Structure removal/replacement is included to
replace “in kind” any qualifying features as disturbed to facilitate
the abatement plan. Utility relocation bid item is included to
replace “in kind” qualifying features as disturbed to facilitate the abatement plan. Likewise, bituminous and roadway stone bid items are included to repair “in kind” any damage to the driveway and Spurlock Church Rd. during normal construction activities.
Waste Area
N 37° 30′ 5.24” latitude and W 82° 43′ 4.14″ longitude.
Waste material would be end dumped in 4’ lifts and then lightly graded with a bulldozer, or other heavy equipment as directed by the engineer.
General
All disturbed areas (site and waste area) would be re-revegetated according to KY AML standards. Trees greater than 3” at breast height, outside of the unstable area, could be removed to facilitate
