The project includes removing the existing asphalt shingle roofing and replacing with new underlayment and asphalt shingle roofing. Repairs include replacement of substrates where damage has occurred and indicated on the drawings. New roof to include roof accessories where indicated (i.e. new copper gutters and downspouts on the front elevations of the Lodge wings A, B, C, and D), new roof flashings, copings, and insulation added in the attic spaces where indicated on the drawings. The total square footage of asphalt shingle roof is 33,270 sq. ft. project, two alternates may be constructed consisting of the replacement of
approximately 21,000 L.F. of 3” and 4” waterline with 4” and 6” PVC waterline and one
pressure reducing station with all necessary appurtenances.

WKU is renovating the Margie Helm Library building to create the WKU Commons. The proposed program includes commercial food service spaces, study spaces, offices, and classrooms. The approximately 66,000 square-foot building was originally built in 1931 and has had minor renovations since that time. An early demolition project was recently completed, taking most of the spaces down to the building’s structure. Project will include all MEP and architectural trades, as well as site and structural work.

The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: This project includes the complete removal and replacement of the existing roof systems and exterior siding on the lodge and the guest wings. The existing asphalt shingles and all associated metal flashings are to be removed and replaced and a new asphalt shingle with nailbase roof insulation systems are to be installed and new associated metal flashings and trim. The existing wood siding and substrate is to be removed in its entirety and replaced with new siding systems and substrate. The existing interior courtyard at the lodge is to be enclosed with a new roof, this work includes a new floor slab installed and new interior finishes. The exterior entry canopy is to be removed and replaced in its entirety as well as new entrance doors and windows at the main entry.
