The Capitol Annex Freight Elevator project consists of a renovation of the freight elevator in the Capitol Annex Building in Frankfort, KY. During the previous elevator inspection, it was determined that the elevator could no longer operate at its original capacity of 8000 pounds and speed of 50 feet per minute. The current rated capacity for the freight elevator is 5500 pounds, and partition walls have been built within the elevator cab to reduce the footprint.
The renovation will be required to bring the elevator into compliance with the elevator code, ASME A17.1-2010. The machine is existing to remain, but the motor shall be removed and replaced with an upsized motor to bring the load capacity back to 8000 pounds. The controller and driver shall both be replaced to drive the new motor. All controls and control wiring shall be replaced. The car top inspection station shall be replaced, and new car top guardrails shall be installed. Safeties, guides, governor, ropes, and traveling cable shall be replaced. Project includes maintenance and lubrication of any existing to remain moving parts.
As part of the project, the existing partitions within the elevator cab are to be removed, and the interior of the elevator cab will be recoated. Plumbing work includes installation of a new sump pump and discharge piping. Mechanical work includes a new split system air conditioning unit and related refrigerant piping and condensation piping. As part of an alternate, existing mechanical equipment in the penthouse shall be removed, and through-wall penetrations patched with new masonry. Electrical work includes work necessary for connection of new mechanical unit, sump pump, and controls, as well as modifications to elevator feeder.

The existing chiller, chilled water pumps, condenser pumps, and cooling tower located in the
main mechanical room and roof will be replaced in this project over the course of two phases.
During Phase 1 the existing chilled water system will remain operational. First the existing
retaining walls located where the existing liquid nitrogen tank is will be demolished to make
room for the new air cooled chillers. The existing liquid nitrogen storage tank will be relocated

The Linda Donato Slide HP AML Reclamation Project is located in Clay County, Grace
Kentucky at 37°.1902 N latitude and 83°.8255 W longitude, Directions to the site are;
from the intersection on Hal Rogers Parkway at Exit 20, exit onto KY 80 and US 421
north and travel 2.0 mile to intersection of KY 638, turn left onto KY 638 and travel 4.59
mile to unnamed road 250 feet passed Eli Drive turn right onto unnamed road and
travel 300 feet to slide. The slide material and trees are visible and material has
blocked the road.
Slide (Site Area)
The slide has toed out into the road and edge of a pond with mud and debris causing
blockage of road to residence. Tree are in slide that is blocking roadway.
We propose is to remove the trees and root wads within the roadway and slide material
that is causing the problem which is blocking access to residence. Slide material will be
excavated from lower section of slide and transported to a designated waste area 700
feet east of site along an abandoned mine bench. The slide area will be abated and
stabilized with the installation of a Gabion Retaining wall, with Class II/III backfill. This
will provide long term stability and prevent additional abandoned mine spoils from
blocking the driveway. A safety fence will be constructed above the wall to prevent
falls. Roadway stone is included to replace in kind driveway and a staging area.
Sediment control will be provided by installation of silt fence or bales as directed.
No trees 3″ dia or greater will be removed except for the slide/unstable area.
Waste Area
Waste area is an abandoned previously disturbed mine bench that slide material will
be wasted on as directed by the ENGINEER. It will be revegetated as part of the
reclamation work. Salvaged trees will become firewood.
