The Somerset-Pulaski County Development Foundation and the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport Board will be entertaining bids for a 1,400 square foot interior fit up for a portion of the existing, Lake Cumberland Regional Airport. The interior fit-up will consist of carpet and tile floor finishes, prefinished solid core wood doors in hollow metal frames, hallow metal doors and framee, interior metal stud walls and drywall installation, reception counter and caseowrk; interior painting and acoustical ceiling tile work. In addition to the interior fit-up work will include two exterior storefront windows, one full glass hollow metal door and frame with an exterior free standing premanufactured canopy. The pedestrian bridge at Cooper Drive is a 450′ long, 10′ wide walkway connecting the Agricultural Science Center South and the Charles E. Barngart building on UK’s campus. The walkway consists of 3 main segments. The north end with architectural precast wall panels bearing on grade beams and structural steel framing supporting the concrete walkway. The bridge across Cooper Drive. This is a truss bridge that spans 95′ and bears on concrete piers at each end. The south end with structural precast beams supporting the concrete walkway. The repair of the walkway will consist of the following: Demolition and replacement of steel frame and concrete on the north end. Temporay shorting of the truss and replacement of the north end bearings. Demolition of the truss slab in segments and replacement.Addition and HSS hangers to the bottom chord and placement of a WT spandrel beam to support a new glass facade at the truss portion of the walkway. Demolition od the south end concrete walkway and angle panel bracing and thier replacement. Install new glass wall panels on truss portion of bridge. As add alternate #1, the addition of safety railing around the Agricultural Science Building (South) nconcrete plaza. The removal of all temoprary shoring (including shoring currently in place to brace the precast wall panels on the north end of the walkway). The resetting of two precast panels near the north end of the truss (one on each side).

The construction documents cover a new building for the Ashland Community and Technical College Cosmetology Program. The site is located in Ashland, Kentucky on the site of College Drive Campus. The site address is 1097 Oakview Drive. Two houses have been demolished and the site minimally graded to allow surface water to runoff. The site contains a protected water shed. Storm water runoff detention is included. All connections to the existing utilities are included. The new building is 6060 gross square feet. The structure is intended to be a pre-fabricated modular building, constructed in an off-site factory and delivered to the site in seven modules. The foundation will be unit masonry set on poured concrete round piers. A crawl space of 3 ft. clear with exterior access is above grade. Each module will have a structural steel frame with wood floor, wall and roof framing. Roof is low slope single-ply membrane gable with gutters. Exterior walls and skirting are cement-composite panels.

Bunt Sisk Hills Site AMD Abatement Project

The Division of Abandoned Mine Lands wishes to receive bids for the BSH Site “U” Repair, AMD Abatement Project. This project is located in the Bunt Sisk Hills of Hopkins County. The project will address the poor vegetation at the site, minor erosion problems, and close a dangerous water filled shaft.

The entire Site “U” area (23 acres) will be revegetated with the AML general reclamation seed mixture. The original seeding occurred within the beginning weeks of a long summer and fall drought resulting in nearly complete failure of the vegetation. Fertilizer (18-46-60 at 0.35 tons/acre) and agriculture limestone (25 tons/acre) will be applied and incorporated in the soil. The seed mixture will be applied at 80 lbs/acre pure live seed, and straw mulch at 2.5 tons/acre.

The large water laden shaft will be filled with high purity class III limestone (>85% CaCO3 content) to minimize the safety threat while allowing the water to surface. A rock berm will be constructed around the shaft to ensure that the water flows down the existing ditchline in the future. The existing rock berms along the main ditch will be extended to prevent short-circuiting and erosion problems. Erosion control blanket (ECB) ditches will be constructed to collect surface water and direct it into the main rock ditch.

Cattails will be collected from the project area and transplanted (on 4-6’ centers) within the lower settling basins. These plants should colonize the cells, increasing the retention time of the water and aiding in filtering precipitates and silt.

Haybales silt checks are included for areas that are disturbed. The existing hay bale barrier along Copper Creek will be repaired as needed. Roadway stone, geogrid, and filter fabric are included for maintenance of the existing access routes. An earthwork bid item has been included to cover any efforts necessary to fill minor erosion gullies, remove silt from retention basins, and other earthwork task. Earthwork efforts from roadways and ditches (rock and ECB) are incidental. For continued project description see Special Conditions.

Roof Replacement National Guard Armory

The work includes the removal and replacement of all built-up roofing, insulation and
flashings. It shall be noted that the existing aluminum counter flashing and parapet cap
flashing shall be removed and re-installed after the new roofing system is completed.
The existing ribbed metal decking shall remain. The main body of the roofing area has
a slope build to it, with the smaller, upper foyer decking being level. Standard straight
insulation shall be used, except on the upper foyer and the crickets/saddles shown on
the roof plan. These areas require tapered insulation with the desired elevations above
the roof as shown on the roof plans. The roof contains approximately 90 squares. The
small roof canopy over the front entrance requires new treated plywood roof decking
with a comparable roofing system with the addition of a sheathing membrane. This roof
requires new copper integral gutters and exposed downspouts.

The University Of Kentucky’s Shively Track, used by the men’s and women’s track and cross country teams, is over 30 years old and needs to be renovated and updated. This project will renovate the existing track and field facility by providing a new track and field surface, fieldevent training areas, spectator seating, spectator amenities (concessions, restrooms, ect.) and equipment storage. The existing facility will ne completely demolished and the new sports venue will be constructed to provide a first class venue for track and field events, creating a quality experiance for both athletes and spectators and will be easy to access and maintain. The new track will be a nine-lane synthetic surface track, competitive events, and grass infield. An athlete only practice throw area will be developed creating a safety for adjacent spectators and warm-up of students athletes. Additionally, a student athlete area has been developed to accommodate visiting teams. The new design and materials integrated with adjacent baseball stadium create a synergy for dual use. A new entry plaza is beingdeveloped to create a identity for the facilitgy and serves to upgrade the entry into the lower level grandstands and the upper level grandstands. There are buildings to be constructed as part of the project: Field Storage, Throw storage, concessions/restroom, and meet adminstration. Typical building materials include concrete foundations and walls, load-bearing CMU, brick, and standing seam metal roof.
