The work includes the completion renovation of the existing school with new 2-story Addition for a total of 124,966 SF. The existing school has approximately 99,371 SF and the 2-story Addition will have 25,595 SF. Jessie Clark Middle School was originally built in 1962 with major building additions in 1990. The scope of work for this current major construction project includes but is not limited to: selective and building demolition, removal and replacement of mechanical systems including installation of variable refrigerant volume systems, replacement of existing electrical systems, fire protection, fire alarm systems, interior finishes (walls, ceilings, floors and base), door hardware, site improvements and paving, replacement of kitchen equipment and the additional 25,595 SF of new administrative area, interior corridor connection to gym, music & art department, enrichment classrooms, elevator and secondary entry vestibules. The Owner shall be responsible for all asbestos abatement with the exception that existing roofing system components containing asbestos shall be removed by the contractor. The work effort will be executed in three Phases beginning in July 2013 and ending July 2015. The building will be occupied and in-use during all phases of construction work. The site work is designed to interface with LFUCG road and utility work along Clays Mill Road while allowing the school to continue its primary functions during the regular academic calendar years of 2013-14 and 2014-15. The contractor shall be required to coordinate the contract work with daily school activities, as well as between phases with the FCPS-provided activities related to: moving of occupants; asbestos abatement; and the installation of casework (not-in-contract).

This is a minor renovation of the existing facility with work occurring in the basement and first floor only. Basement renovation is limited to hallway and reconfiguring existing restroom into separate male/female restrooms. Work on the first floor starts in the main entry way where the entry doors will be refinished. The front shall and office will receive a major face lift, wood floors, replacement wood doors ACT system, new lights. The ramp in the main assembly area will be replaced and the entry into 101 will be altered to accommodate. Another new ramp will create access to the new women’s restroom and the men’s will be created on the level of the assembly hall. The addition of this ramp will require modifications to room 109 and 109a as well as a new ACT system and lights in room 109. The rear office will be reconfigured to facilitate more efficient operations for that group.

KY School for the Deaf Department of Education

The project includes various improvements related to security throughout the campus. Most of the work includes adding cameras to the existing networked CCTV systems in Brady Hall, Middleton Hall, Kerr Hall, and Argo-McClure Hall, as well as upgrades to existing system software, networking with the campus LAN, and maintenance of existing cameras. Ms. Howlett served as the project manager for the original campus CCTV project. The project also includes the addition of Walker Hall to the campus networked CCTV system.
The CCTV system utilizes digital video recorders which are networked using fiber optic cabling. Both fixed and pan-tilt-zoom camera systems are used, with enclosures appropriately specified for the location.
In addition to CCTV, the project includes access control for the main entry at Argo-McClure Hall, and a duress system which provides local alarms as well as dialing capabilities.
