This project consists of a major renovation to the old gym and a gym basement to convert to educational classroom spaces; and an addition which will primarily hold a new gymnasium, a classroom, and applicable support spaces. The renovation areas will include approximately 15,000 sf of renovation space that will provide updated spaces for Resource rooms, a Music Room, a Special Education room, a Project-Lead-The-Way space, a collaborative STEAM education space, a Band Room and an elevator. The addition will include a two-story facility with approximately 25,000 sf of new space on the first floor which will include a Gymnasium, coaching offices, locker rooms and one classroom. The upper floor will consist of approximately 8,000 sf which will include a walking track and an open health and wellness area.
Construction for the renovation will include but not be limited to a new shingled roof, wall partitions, mechanical, electrical plumbing upgrades, new interior finishes and an overall renovation of the space. One elevator to reach all levels is also included.
Construction of the addition will include but not be limited to a new thermoplastic membrane roofing system, a new concrete masonry load-bearing wall structure with a metal truss and joist system with metal deck for the roof and upper flooring areas. Foundations will consist of concrete footers, stem walls and displaced aggregate piers. The addition will be equipped with new interior finishes, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as well.
The project will include a geothermal water source heat pump with centralized pumping. The gymnasium addition will be served with packaged DX rooftop air handling units. The building will be 100% protected with a wet fire suppression system. The HVAC system will be controlled by a web-based direct digital controls system. The building will include a code compliant sanitary sewer system. The addition domestic hot water will be served by two electric water heaters. A new 2000A system 208Y/120V electrical service will be added to the building to accommodate the addition achieved by replacing the existing pad mount transformer on site. Gym lighting and down lighting will be LED while all other interior lay-in lighting will be energy efficient fluorescent. Lighting controls will be local to the spaces, consisting of power packs and occupancy sensors to comply with energy code requirements. All existing low voltage systems will be expanded to accommodate all new areas of the building.
Provisions to ease in accommodating future solar panels will be integrated in the design.
This project scope includes construction of a new kitchen and cafeteria addition with support spaces using load bearing CMU walls, steel joists, lightweight insulating concrete with a modified bitumen system roofing system. Geothermal well fields and a new transformer will be installed as well. Renovation of existing spaces includes converting the existing cafeteria and kitchen areas into classroom spaces and support spaces as well as new lighting and ceilings throughout the school.
Install new roof at Star Elementary. Multi-purpose room and adjacent Kitchen to receive modified bitumen system, approximately 4,500 square feet. Remainder of building to receive shingle on new pre-engineered wood trusses over existing low-slope structure, approximately 16,500 square feet. Work includes metal wall panels, pre-finished metal soffit panels, gutters, downspouts, metal edge trim, etc./ Work also includes removal of existing roof system(s) and insulation, extension of mechanical and plumbing systems to new roof system. Work bid as an Alternates include installation of a new walk-in cooler/freezer adjacent to kitchen with access through existing exterior wall. Install metal roof panel system in place of shingles.

The program of work for which bids are to be submitted consists of the construction of Phase 1 of a 200,000 gallon per day (GPD) wastewater treatment plant using the process called “Sequencing Batch Reactor”. The proposed treatment process will include a process train that includes a Influent Meter and Vault, Influent Comminutor and Valve Vault, Two 2 (SBRs Basins, Post Flow Equalization Basin, Chlorine Contact Basin, Aerobic Digestion Basin, Sludge Dewatering Containers, Chemical Feed System, Control/Laboratory Building, and a Back-up Power Emergency Generator including all related appurtenances as shown on the Drawings and Specifications for the sewage collection system for the communities of Warfield, Lovely, and Beauty in Martin County.
