The Elevators will be repaired per Kentucky Elevator Code, per Kentucky Revised Statue Chapter 198B-4009, which requires all elevator work to be performed by a KY Licensed Elevator Contractor or Mechanic, the National Electrical Code, as well as the National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex, located in Morgan County, West Liberty, Kentucky. The structure of the elevator cabs are in good condition and suitable for reuse. In addition, the operating rails are heavy duty, in excellent shape and are to be reused. At the time the elevators were installed, there was no code requirement for a door restrictor, but will be added in this project. The elevator power units, controls, controller software, floor landing system will be replaced by the Contractor. The elevator machine rooms are in good condition with adequate access, HVAC, ventilation, and lighting. Likewise the elevator pits are acceptable, with no hydraulic oil leaks present. A dedicated HVAC unit for the interior elevator machine room will be provided by the Contract. The elevators will comply with all manufacturers’ requirements and shall interface with the Fire Alarm System for elevator recall.
