Estimate: $212,317.00

Estimated Length of Project: N/A (Substantial Completion) + 90 (Final Completion)

The project is located on the Williamson quadrangle in Pike County. It can be found along KY 292 west of South Williamson, Ky. N 37° 40’ 27.59”, W 82°17’ 47.04”. A small active slide was worked as a small purchase this past winter behind the Bannister residence. Since this original work, additional material has broken loose and continues to unravel and fall against the house below. After the heavy rains this past spring and early summer, a new scarp has developed at the bench line behind the residence. This scarp stretches nearly the length of the house. Monitoring of this scarp indicates active movement of the material behind the house. Reclamation efforts include the construction of a non-reinforced concrete wall to hold the material in place. Ditches and subdrains will be installed to control groundwater and runoff. Various items such as dense graded aggregate, and bituminous have been added for access and repairs to damage due to reclamation efforts. Waste will be taken to a bond forfeited site in Money Branch. Silt will be controlled during all phases of reclamation to minimize silt leaving the reclamation area. All disturbed areas will be vegetated using lime, fertilizer, residential seed, and mulch. For continued description, see Special Conditions.

CCK-2084-16 Memorial Hall Tower Restoration

CCK-2084-16 Memorial Hall Tower Restoration

Project Description:
The intent of this project is to restore the Memorial Hall tower to its original condition and grandeur. In addition, proposed replacement materials and renovations will enhance the longevity of the edifice and reduce the need for constant and challenging maintenance operations on the exterior. The contractor/bidder should not enter into this project with the thought that it will be an easy and quickly completed project as this 86 year-old edifice surely will be hiding situations with associated project-lengthening problems. Such situations will not impose additional work on the Contractor/Bidder without due compensation. However, the Contractor/Bidder must also understand that the building will be in use during construction and may require, at times, that all active, on-site work and/or noise-producing activities cease.
Further, in addition to the renovation and renewal of the tower, the intent is: 1. Not to have any exposed surfaces that will require routine scheduled painting i.e. no exposed wood surfaces on the exterior of the tower, and 2. Any future water leakage through or past the exterior surface elements of paneling, flashing, rooting, etc. will be directed to the outer perimeters of the tower and drip away without every coming in contact with the underside wooden skin/elements of the tower.

RFB-154-16 Jonathon Maggard Chaney

Project Manager Name: Shannon Train, AML
Phone: (502) 564-
Email: Shannon.Train@ky.gov

Estimate: $165,151.25

Estimated Length of Project: N/A (Substantial Completion) + 90 (Final Completion)

The complaint filed by Mr. Maggard was due to the persistent seepage from the slope located behind his residence, resulting in constant saturation of his yard. A small swale ditch exists at the bottom of the hillside, but is failing to adequately drain the water from the backyard. A small drainage ravine located at the southwest corner of the yard also contributes additional water into the swale ditch. The hillside behind the residence will be excavated to rock from the toe of the slope upward a distance of about 15 feet and extending for a length of 145 feet. A 180 L.F. Combination Rock Ditch-Drain will be constructed along the base of the slope to collect the water from the ravine and the hillside seepage and direct this water down an existing ravine to the side yard of Mr. Maggard’s neighbor. There is an existing deteriorated concrete ditch here that will be replaced with a new Concrete Ditch-Rectangular, 155 feet in length. The flow will then be directed into a drop box with an 18” HDPE pipe outlet. This pipe, 40 feet in length, with a concrete headwall at the outlet, will discharge the flow down the slope to the creek bed below. There are no permit requirements expected for this project. No trees will be disturbed to accomplish this reclamation project. Bituminous repair will be included in the cost estimate to repave Mr. Maggard’s driveway in the event any damage occurs from the heavy equipment used to complete the project. John Chaney Project: This site is located in the city of Hazard. To arrive at this site, from Hal Rogers Parkway turn onto Morton Blvd. travel up the hill about 0.5 mile to the pharmacy on the left across from Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. Location coordinates are N37° 16’ 41.3” W83° 13’ 34.7”. For continued project description see Special Conditions.
