PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project consists of work in the Blue, Green, and Red Lots at Commonwealth Stadium. The Blue Lot scope includes demolition that primarily consists of asphalt pavement demolition, as well as some removal of existing storm piping and existing electrical panels and the associated wiring. New work will include installation of concrete and asphalt pavements, a small amount of slot drain installation, pavement striping and sod in areas disturbed by grading and other construction activities. There will be some coordination between this project and the adjacent bus shelter project for installation of pavements at the northwest area of the blue lot.

The Green Lot scope includes demolition of existing asphalt pavements, header curb, curb and gutter and some concrete pavement. An alternate exists for the milling of the entire green lot pavement to remain. New work includes expanding asphalt pavement at the northeast corner of the green lot, curb and gutter and header curb, pavement striping and sod in areas disturbed by grading and other construction activities. All of the existing asphalt pavement to remain in the green lot is to receive an asphalt overlay.

Additionally, in the Red Lot to the west of Commonwealth Stadium, there is a small area marked for demolition of an existing raised pavement area and installation of new concrete pavement flush with adjacent drive isle as well as the installation of new ADA dropped curbs.

The project includes an Alternate No. 1 to provide labor, materials and equipment necessary for 1.5” milling of existing asphalt pavement in the Green Lot as indicated on Sheet SD0.1, and as specified. Comply with all contract document requirements.

Also, the project includes an Allowance No. 1: to provide labor, materials and equipment necessary for asphalt base failure repair of 2,800 SY as determined by Architect. Include providing a unit cost per SY for full depth pavement and subbase replacement / repair. The special inspections agent will test / approve and note any areas determined as failing. Comply with all contract document requirements. This allowance is for replacement / repair required as a result of unforeseen conditions and does not represent the work shown on the construction drawings. Architect must approve materials for this allowance prior to the work.

Finally, included within this bid package are two (2) Sub-Surface Geotechnical Report was prepared by S&ME for projects in the immediate area. The reports are available for information purposes only and are not a part of the Contract Documents. The Boring Logs, if any, are included for the General Contractor’s information but do not represent a warranty of subsurface conditions. Neither the Owner nor the Consultant will be responsible for interpretations or conclusions drawn from this report by the General Contractor. This data is made available solely for the convenience of the General Contractor

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
General
The Academic Science Building project is a new, three story laboratory building located on the 600 block of Rose Street, between Hilltop Avenue and Huguelet Street. Including the partial basement and the penthouse space above the third floor, the building consists of an approximate total floor area of 234,000 square feet.

The Work of this project consists of site preparation, demolition, relocation and replacement of site utilities; new construction of reinforced concrete foundations (drilled piers, grade beams and basement foundation walls), and a structural steel frame with composite floor decks. Exterior insulated brick masonry veneer, cementitious siding and soffits, terracotta cladding, glazed curtain wall fenestration and roofing on metal decking make up the building envelope. Interiors consisting of gypsum walls, specialty ceilings, extensive millwork, and other well-appointed interior finishes complete this most technologically advanced academic learning center in the sciences. Efficient and sustainable heating, cooling, lighting, security, and communications systems are included for safety, comfort, energy conservation, and ease of operation.

Bid Package 09 – Signage
In general, Bid Package 09 –Signage includes custom, interior signage for the complete building. In addition to “general” building signage (Room Signage / Numbers, Stair Signage, Restroom Signage, Directional Signage, Directories, Evacuation Plans and similar), the scope includes custom Nature Signage (informational), Donor Wall Signage, individual room / area Donor Signage and electronic (Digital Display) signage. The construction of the building structure, building enclosure, building systems (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, telecommunications, and controls) and other interior finishes was included in prior Bid Packages (01-06), which are available for review and inspection in the Construction Manager’s site office upon request.

The Department of Highways Engineer Section Office – Whitley County project consists of a single Base Bid. The new structure is a 2,000 GSF, single floor building. Project consists of a renovation / expansion of Morehead State University Adron Doran University Center. Site preparation will include removal of curbs, utilities, sidewalks, steps, site walls and trees. Site protection will include storm water pollution prevention / erosion control, tree protection, site perimeter protection throughout construction. New site improvements include grading, installation of new storm drainage, site utilities, new asphalt pavement and asphalt surfaces, concrete curb and gutter, brick pavers and thin brick wall veneer, concrete walkways and stairs, pipe handrails, seeding, sodding and landscape installation. 189,208 S.F. Building Renovation / Expansion of existing Adron Doran University Center. Areas in the project include new national venue restaurants, campus wide catering kitchen, a plating kitchen on the third floor, large ballroom with folding wall partitions, campus data center, admissions center, theater, Student Government Offices, Dean of Student Offices, minor upgrades to Bookstore and office suites, additional meeting rooms on third floor. Building structure is concrete frame on existing building with concrete piles and grade beams. A new brick and limestone façade is being replaced on the existing building. The new building addition structure consists of concrete pile foundation with the building frame being concrete on first and second floors and steel frame with fireproofing at the third floor. Exterior walls will be light gage metal stud with masonry veneer. The roof assembly is a T.P.O. membrane roof with polyisocyanurate insulation. Exterior openings include aluminum windows, aluminum storefront and aluminum curtainwall. Interior is made up of light gage metal stud interior partitions. The finishes include carpet tile, luxury vinyl tile, rubber tile, porcelain tile and base, interior wood casework with solid surface counter tops, wood veneer wall covering in several lobby areas. Lighting in facility will be LED lighting throughout. The building HVAC will have a 4 pipe variable air volume system. It will consist of air cooled steam to hot water heat exchangers connected to the universities control steam system. The air handling units for the existing building will be located in the existing mechanical room and penthouses. All spaces will be provided with voice annunciated fire alarm system. A roof mounted transformer will provide back-up power
