The elevator shaft addition was constructed in 1983, while the connection addition was constructed in 1965. There is no data for when the original building was constructed but the extents of the original building are not within this project area. There are currently signs of differential settlement within the elevator addition and the adjacent stair well shaft. This project will include excavating the soil next to the south wall of the elevator shaft, and installing 3 micropile adjacent to the concrete stem wall. After the micropiles are installed, a concrete grade will be constructed to connect the existing stem wall construction to the micropiles for support. After the installation of the micropiles and grade beam, the area will be backfilled with appropriate fill per the earthwork specification. After the foundation repair is complete, the rest of the project includes tuck pointing brick veneer, replacing expansion joints in masonry walls and concrete slabs, removing and re-caulking wall to adjacent interfaces, and stabilizing beam bearing pockets.
This project is for the construction of a 60’-3″ long x 60-0″ wide x 10’ high, reinforced concrete walls to be used for the bulk storage of roadway deicing salt. Shallow, reinforced concrete spread footings will be used. The Contractor shall perform all excavation necessary for the footing. No bid item is provided for the excavation and shall be considered incidental to other items.
Walls will be ten (10) feet high x twelve (12) inches thick and will be constructed on the footing and will support a pre-engineered, membrane covered (roof) structure (PMCS). The roof structure is to be furnished and installed separately by Bulk Storage, Inc., per their Master Agreement upon completion of the footing and walls. See Scope of Work for additional information.
This project will make electrical upgrades to an existing storage room in the Northern Kentucky Youth Development Center to be used as a carpentry classroom. No walls or doors are being altered. There are existing exit doors from this room directly to the exterior. Electrical powered tools will be set in place by owner, requiring new receptacles. The class size will be for approximately 4 to 6 students and instructor. Work consists of painting, concrete floor cutting and patching, upgrading existing electrical service from existing electrical panel in adjacent room in the building. New electrical receptacles and lights will be required. There will be a new exhaust system. Contractors are to be aware this is a secured detention facility, consequently control and limited access is absolutely necessary and needs to be accounted for in the daily and weekly work schedules. The existing exterior doors to this room will be utilized by workmen entering the workspace. The existing interior door to he corridor will remain locked by owner. This is a 642 square foot room in a 28,000 sf. Building. There are no changes or modifications planned to existing walls or openings.
