RFB-189-20 Plymale Branch Slide AML

RFB-189-20 Plymale Branch Slide AML

Estimate:
$251,257.50
Estimated Length of Project:
(Substantial Completion) + 90 Calendar Days (Final Completion)

The Plymale Branch Slide AML Reclamation Project consists of one site and an adjacent Waste
Earth Fill Area, totaling approximately 9.0 acres of disturbance. Reclamation at this site includes the
excavation of two nearly adjacent landslide areas threatening to both encroach upon a public road and to
damage a residence. Also to be completed are the installation of two permanent closures at a pair of
abandoned underground mine portals. A small rock overhang will be mitigated by filling the space
beneath it with heavy stone, eliminating the shelter area beneath it.
The landslide areas will be excavated to rock. This will result in the removal of up to an
estimated 10,000 cubic yards of earthen material to the fill area. One internally collapsed abandoned
mine entry located on the will be fitted with a non-wildlife-accessible portal closure. A second fully
collapsed and draining adit, located immediately above the landslide area, will be reopened and
permanently closed following installation of a drainage structure. After placement of excess earth in the
fill area (which is a reclaimed and completely released Title-V surface mine area) has been completed, the
area will be revegetated according to standard AML practices. Existing access roads leading to and from
the fill site will be maintained to allow passage of conventional wheeled vehicles.
All areas disturbed by the project will be revegetated using the AML standard General
Reclamation Mixture seed mix by means of standard agricultural tillage techniques, except for the
landslide areas that are excavated to rock. Such areas will be revegetated by means of hydroseeding
