The project is the tear-off and re-roofing of an existing Supply Building located in Frankfort, Kentucky. The building roof is 29,352 square feet.
The project generally consists of the following:
1. Complete tear-off of existing roof membrane down to lightweight concrete substrate.
2. Replacement of all roof drains down to first PVC piping section.
3. Replacement of existing roof expansion joints.
4. Replacement of metal fascia.
5. Application of vented base sheet over entire roof, mechanically fastened to existing lightweight concrete substrate.
6. Application of new 2-ply SBS Modified-Bitumen roof system in combination hot and cold application.
7. Miscellaneous other work as described in documents.

The building is slab-on-grade with wood framed walls. Materials include metal siding, asphalt shingles, double hung windows, hollow metal doors and frames, flush wood solid core doors, gypsum board, vinyl composition tile and acoustical lay-in ceiling panels.

RFB-152-11 Glasgow State Nursing Facility Replacement

The site for the Glasgow State Nursing Replacement Facility is located at the intersection of Lexington Road and the central business district of Glasgow, Kentucky. The site contains 27+ acres of rolling hills and is contained on 3 sides by established residential neighborhoods. All necessary utilities including electric, water, gas, telephone, cable television, sanitary sewer and storm sewer are readily available at the site. The structure will be a steel frame consisting of steel beams, columns, joists, and roof trusses. Exterior partitions will be cavity wall construction with a brick skin over rigid insulation, and metal studs with batten insulation. Interior partitions consist of metal studs and gypsum board. The roof consists of a low-slope built-up modified bituminous roofing system, and a pitched roof made of insulated metal panels. The building is predominantly single story, with a partial basement for service elements, and a mechanical penthouse. The total gross square footage is approximately 72,000 square feet. This project contains a commercial kitchen, laundry facility, and elevator. This project is seeking a LEED certification.
RFB-154-11 Roof Replacement Pike Building Big Sandy Community & Technical College

The building was re-roofed in the mid 1990’s with a low slope metal roof system and internal perimeter gutter. A metal purlin roofing structure and standing seam metal roof was installed on top of the existing dead level, insulated, coal tar pitch roof. An internal perimeter gutter system was installed with additional piping run from the perimeter gutters back to the internal roof risers in the center of the building. This project consists of removing the existing low sloped metal roofing system with batt insulation and the underlying original coal tar pitch roofing down to the existing concrete deck.
On top of the concrete deck the Contractor shall install a new tapered insulation system and a two ply modified bitumen roofing system, approximately 14,884 sf. The project will be phased in such as to insure the weather tightness of the roof at all times during the re-roofing project.
RFB-148-11 Panther Repair AMD Abatement Project

The Panther Repair AMDAP is intended to repair damaged ditches, poorly vegetated areas, and dispose of one brush/tree pile. Work on the former Panther Tipple BF/AMDAP site includes revegetation, spoil excavation, ditch repair and construction, brush disposal, and low water crossing construction. We will install two low water crossings using an interlocking concrete ¿cellular block system¿ at existing failed crossing areas. Repair erosion control blanket (ECB) ditches and install rock checks using onsite aggregate. Class II/III ditches will be reconstructed using geogrid, class III aggregate, and shotrock for rock checks. We will burn and dispose of a large brush/tree pile and revegetate the area with the AML wildlife seed mixture. Repair poorly vegetated areas, (hot spots) created from acidic soils or seeps, with limestone sand and hardwood bark mulch. Reconstruct one section of the main drainage channel to create a wider curvature, use larger rock, and place it in the center of the valley. This ditch will require extra excavation to allow the placement of spoil material under the aggregate ditch. Lime the acidic excavated material and buried it at least 2” deep on the project site. The borrow material will be from a designated spoil ridge used during the previous projects. The inspector may identify which areas will be used first for spoil gathering. On the former Panther Pits AMDAP, the contractor will fill a crack that has formed along the highwall with DGA and then covered with onsite earth materials.
