The project involves the development of a new campus plaza space across from Memorial Coliseum on the Avenue of Champions on the University of Kentucky Campus in Lexington, Kentucky Specific areas of work include demolition =, site clearing, earthwork, site drainage, paving, walks, turf and grasses,exterior plantings, freestanding walls, site furnishings, site lighting, and other related site improvements.The project will also involve coordination with the Artist commissioned to fabricate and install a newsculpture which will serve as a focal point for teh plaza. Specific responsibilities of this contract will include the provision of footings to support the installation of the sculpture. The project will also include one additive alternate and one allowance. Additive Alternate #1 involves the construction of two (2) additional stone veneer seatwalls along the main walks flanking the plaza and as indicated on the drwaings and specifications. The allowance provides for construction of temporary sidewalks if needed as determined by the Landscape Architect and/or owner.

The project provides for all labor, materials, and equipment to provide for the removal and treatment of invasive plant and tree species within Brown Park in the City of St. Matthews, Jefferson County, Kentucky. The site is located at the corner of Kresge Way and Browns Lane, just north of I-64 and neighboring the Baptist East Hospital Campus. The project scope includes the renovation of a 1 story warehouse with an approximate total are of 100,000 SF of existing building. The exterior walls are precast concrete panels, steel frame with slab-on-grade. Roofs are ballasted EPDM over an original BUR over gypsum deck over steel bar joists. The entire roof deck to be replaced with corrugated metal and SBS modified roof system. Approximately 28,900 SF of the interior of the building will have a new mezzanine constructed from structural steel and hollow core plank system. This area will house relocated FCPS support programs. Site work includes minor regrading with new asphalt, paving resurfacing, site lighting, storm water utilities. MEP includes variable refrigerant HVAC system, all-electric power and modifications to a full fire suppression system. The adjacent building will have minor improvements made as a result of the work on this property. Renovation activities may begin December 2011 after the required approvals are received. The work must be substantially complete no later than November 2012.

The work consists of: The Fire Alarm System will be removed and upgraded per the 2007 Kentucky Building Code with Current Revisions, the 2009 International Building Code, and the 2010 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code, NFPA72 at the Breathitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center, located at 2725 Highway 30W, Jackson, KY. An intelligent, addressable fire alarm system shall be provided in accordance with National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code requirements as well as the requirements of the State Fire Marshall’s Office. The system will comply with all manufacturers’ requirements and shall report compatible alarm signals to the remote central system via an externally mounted dialer. The fire alarm system will monitor any and all sprinkler system flow switches, tamper switches, and duct mounted smoke detectors as well as heat detectors and smoke detectors.

Funds for this project have been provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 with a grant from the National Park Service. All work shall be performed in strict accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and Guidelines for Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings.
