The work includes the renovation of the existing school with new additions for a total of 78,685 SF. The existing school has approximately 51,660 SF and the additions have 27,025 SF – all part of a one-story building. Interior ramped corridors connect the existing gymnasium, new art, music and nature studies to the main school level. Garden Springs Elementary School was originally built in 1964 with additions and renovations in 1966 and 1967. A major renovation occurred in 1988 following a fire at the school The scope of work for this current major construction project includes but it not limited to: selective and building demolition, removal and replacement of mechanical systems including installation of variable refrigerant volume systems, replacement of existing electrical systems, fire protection, fire alarm systems, interior finishes (walls, ceilings, floors and base), door hardware, renovated and expanded media center and cafeteria, site improvements and paving. The addition of a 27,025 SF includes a new administrative area, FMD, family resource room, and kitchen, music room, classrooms and secondary entry vestibules.

Base Bid: Chiller and Cooling Tower Replacement
The scope of work is to include all items indicated and implied by the drawings and
specifications for a fully functioning and operating system including but not limited to
the following:
• Demolition of the existing centrifugal chiller, cooling tower, pumps, and piping
in the central plant as indicated in the contract documents at Central State Hospital.
• Relocation of the existing expansion tank in the central plant at Central State
Hospital.
• Relocation and commissioning of the existing modular chiller from Eastern
State Hospital in Lexington, Ky. to Central State Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
• Relocation and commissioning of the existing VFD’s from Eastern State
Hospital in Lexington, Ky. to Central State Hospital in Louisville, Ky. as indicated in the
contract documents.
• Relocation and commissioning of the existing Solids Separators, Expansion
Tank, and other equipment from Eastern State Hospital in Lexington, Ky. to Central
State Hospital in Louisville, Ky. as indicated in the contract documents.
• Installation of new piping of the existing central chiller plant at Central State
Hospital per the contract documents. Installation of (2) two new primary chilled water
pumps, (2) two new secondary chilled water pumps, (2) two new cooling tower pumps,
a new air separator, and a new expansion tank.
• Installation of a new variable speed cooling tower at Central State Hospital.
• Provide and integrate controls for the new central plant equipment into the
existing controls front end located at the Central State Hospital campus.
• Provide new electrical panels and wiring as required for the new HVAC
equipment including integration of the new HVAC equipment into the existing
emergency generator system.

• Remove and replace existing chilled water piping in the underground utility
distribution tunnel at Central State Hospital located in front of the Flynn building.
The relocation of equipment from Eastern State Hospital located in Lexington,

This project establishes program space for a new Veterinarian Tech Program at the Downtown Campus of Owensboro CTC. This Program will provide instruction to students in a hands-on environment of a professional Veternarian Clinic. Instruction will include the actual practice of a clinic with conducting procedures on live animals in order to simulate the real life conditions of an actual practice. This instruction will include all aspects of an actual office from office administration to clinic procedures. A graduate of this program will be equipped to handle the standard operation of today’s Veternarian office.
The space is approximately 5000 square feet of mostly open, high bay area which was previously a Machine Tool Lab and is currently a TV studio. As a high bay lab it has 18’ high ceiling with exposed steel structure. The interior walls are CMU. The floors are exposed concrete. All work will be limited to the interior of this space with the exception of MEP tie-ins to building systems outside of the project area and with the exception exterior dog kennels.
