The project includes associated site development and construction of approximately 8,700 SF Kitchen and Cafeteria addition to the existing McNeill Elementary School. The single story structure will consist of concrete foundations, CMU exterior bearing walls and interior partitions, bar joists and metal decking with tapered roofing insulation and a thermoplastic membrane.

Most of the work includes adding cameras to the existing networked CCTV systems in Brady Hall, Middleton Hall, Kerr Hall, and Argo-McClure Hall, as well as upgrades to existing system software, networking with the campus LAN, and maintenance of existing cameras. Ms. Howlett served as the project manager for the original campus CCTV project. The project also includes the addition of Walker Hall to the campus networked CCTV system.
The CCTV system utilizes digital video recorders which are networked using fiber optic cabling. Both fixed and pan-tilt-zoom camera systems are used, with enclosures appropriately specified for the location.
In addition to CCTV, the project includes access control for the main entry at Argo-McClure Hall, and a duress system which provides local alarms as well as dialing capabilities.

The Project includes the demolition of existing concrete pavement and associated structures on a roof top plaza and the construction of a new roof top plaza. The Work includes General Requirements, installation of concrete curbs and walkways, porous unit pavers, steel arch and arbor pieces and associated foundations, site lighting and associated electrical distribution, wood decking, drip irrigation, installation of special soil mixes, and other related site improvements. Owner furnished items to be installed by the Contractor shall include white oak decking boards to be installed at new deck (structure and framing to be provided and installed by the Contractor), and Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 planters as indicated in the Documents. The existing structure below the plaza grade pavement is composed of the Garrigus Building basement roof, and existing roof membrane, protection board, and stone which serves as the drainage medium for the roof as well as the base for the existing pavement to be removed. As-Built drawings of the structure and roof below the plaza have been included in the set for the Contractor’s reference only. The Base Bid includes Allowance No. 1, a the lump sum of $20,000 for locating existing roof top drains, remove existing stone / drainage fill within a 24” diameter around drain perimeter and replace with new, washed #57 drainage fill. Prior to replacing stone, each drain shall be water tested to verify it is free draining and functioning properly. All damaged roof strainers shall be replaced- replacement of 10 of the existing roof strainers is included in the lump sum allowance. The Project also includes two additive alternates: Additive Alternate No. 1 includes: addition of full removal of all existing roof stone, protection board and membrane, and installation of new roof membrane, protection board and clean, washed #57 drainage fill as indicated in the Documents. Additive Alternate No. 2 includes: new waterproofing and recoating over existing coating at north pedestrian bridge and north stairs as indicated in the Documents. Base bid condition leaves existing coatings at north pedestrian bridge and north stairs unchanged.

Site 1 – Back Branch: The site is located off Back Branch Road A slide has developed on a hill next to Back Branch road and a stream that is a tributary of Back Branch. The slide is affecting the tributary of Back Branch and will need to be removed. There is a bench above the slide that is the result of contour mining. The slide area will be stripped to rock and the material will be placed on the bench above the slide as well as two areas below the slide. A subdrain shall be placed in the bench waste area against the highwall.
Site 2 – Ishmael Higgins: The site is located off Hwy 378 A slide has developed on a previous OSM slide mitigation project. The slide will be corrected by constructing a gabion wall at the bottom of the slide and backfilling the wall with class II rock. Excess slide material will be excavated and taken to the waste area on the Back Branch site. Ditches, subdrains and pipes will be installed to direct drainage away from the slide.
Site Preparation includes clearing and grubbing of vegetation. The construction areas ate the Back Branch site shall be revegetated using agricultural limestone, fertilizer, seed, and mulch. The construction area at the Higgins site shall be revegetated using residential seeding. Hay bales, silt fences and rock silt checks shall be installed for silt and erosion control.A hoe ram bid item is included for excavation work needed for the ditches, subdrains and retaining walls. A landscape allowance is included to replace “in kind” landscape disturbed as needed as part of normal construction efforts. Providing mold remediation in the Kentucky School for the Blind Howser Hall Building located on Haldeman Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky. Attendant to the remediation work shall be all building demolition and replacement as required for the building to be occupied as indicated on the contract documents. Removal of various types of ceilings and walls to access areas of mold or moisture damage and replacement after mold remediation has been accomplished. Furnishing and installing protective roof coatings as described in the contract manual for a ten year warranty on the existing metal roofs, which have been identified as a source of moisture. Removal of all piping insulation showing evidence of mold contamination and replacement with new pipe insulation as specified herein. A quantity allowance for the pipe insulation to be removed and replaced with new is to be included in the base proposal. Modifications to the existing HVAC system as depicted on the drawings. All attendant electrical work is required. A complete and thorough duct cleaning and coating of the existing internally lined duct system as required in the project manual. A complete and thorough cleaning of the entire facility and wipe down shall be done.
