TBig Sandy Community and Technical College (BSCTC) is one of the many colleges making up the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS). BSCTC has 4 campus serving several counties in eastern Kentucky. The new Advanced Technology Center (ATC) will be located on the Pikeville Campus of BSCTC.The ATC is funded by a federal grant to house a training program for fiber-optics and broadband technology. Once complete this building will not only be the first Broadband Technology program in the KCTCS System, but one of three in the United States. This facility will be a regional training program serving the eastern United States and beyond. This 15,000 GSF, two-story building will be constructed on deep foundations and grade beams and will be a steel framed structure. Exterior building materials will include masonry, metal panels and glazing. The roof will be a two-ply SBS. Interior finishes will consist primarily of painted gypsum board, resilient tile, carpet, acoustical ceiling tile and limited ceramic tile. The entire building will be 100% covered with a wet type system. The HVAC system will be consist of rooftop packaged gas/DX units with VAV boxes and an energy recovery ventilator. A new 277/480 volt three phase power supply will be provided to the building. All lighting will be LED with occupancy controls.
