Description

Western Kentucky University is seeking qualified firms to develop documents to repair and renovate The Craig Alumni Center located in WKU campus in Bowling Green, KY. Located on the main campus which covers approximately 205 acres, with additional property in surrounding areas.

The renovation of Craig Alumni will take into account planned improvements under the Campus Master Plan, current and projected capital construction projects, and planned use for the space. This historic building was originally designed by Brinton B. Davis, who is often referred to as the "Hill Builder" for his untiring efforts as the architect of many of the campus landmarks fromm 1909 to 1937. The Craig Alumni Center originally served as the President's Home when it was constructed in 1931. It is a perfect example of a Federal style building, and the outstanding architectural elements include limestone quoins, dormers, bracketed eaves, a rounded portico. a hipped roof, paneled chimneys, and lovely balustrades. It was renovated in 1938, and later renovated again and converted into its present use as an Alumni Center in 1964. The building will be repurposed once the Alumni Association moves to its new home in Alumni Square. Renovations will include architectural, facility upgrades, and MEP improvements. Please note this RFP is for Architectural/Engineering Services. Construction and renovation will be bid separately upon completion of design.
